Alert the media, the end of the world is May 21st 2011 – this Saturday!
Okay, so we’ve been following this news for the past week or so and the controversy surrounding Harold Camping’s beliefs that Doomsday is going to happen this weekend is picking up as the final hours approach before - what thousands of people are calling - the May 21st Rapture.
In case you missed our previous posts, I’ll recap exactly what Harold and his camp expect to happen this weekend which will – according to them – result in the end of the world as we know it.
Here’s an excerpt from an interview Harold gave earlier this month (read the full interview here):
“God has given sooo much information in the Bible about this, and so many proofs, and so many signs, that we know it is absolutely going to happen without any question at all.”
He continues, “when we get to May 21 on the calendar in any city or country in the world, and the clock says about — this is based on other verses in the Bible — when the clock says about 6 p.m., there’s going to be this tremendous earthquake that’s going to make the last earthquake in Japan seem like nothing in comparison. And the whole world will be alerted that Judgment Day has begun. And then it will follow the sun around for 24 hours. As each area of the world gets to that point of 6 p.m. on May 21, then it will happen there, and until it happens, the rest of the world will be standing far off and witnessing the horrible thing that is happening.”
While the news is being brushed off by many as absolute rubbish, others are incredibly worried.
When asked if he’ll feel embarassed if the world doesn’t end this weekend, the Prophesier replied with ”I can’t even think about that question because you’re thinking that maybe, maybe Judgment Day will not happen. But it will happen, and I believe the Bible implicitly.”
Only time will tell if Harold and his followers are right but on Saturday morning at 2am EST we’ll know. If you turn on the TV and there’s no word of an earthquake in New Zealand, you’ll know Harold’s prediction was wrong once again (he was wrong when he predicted the world was going to end in 1994 as well).

I totally agree!! I am saddened by the people that do not only think there is no higher power, but actually dont have a sense that there is something bigger and BETTER out there.. and the name is God. I have had many issues and tests with my faith but everytime i wander off he reels me right back in. To believe in something is to have hope. People have hope every day. They have hope that their family members will get better. They hope that they can pay their bills on time. They hope that they can win the lottery which what, has a 1 in 1.9 million chance, but you cant have hope and faith in believing in something higher. given away life savings, or other accumulated assets. they’re going to be in bad financial, and emotional shape come sunday morning when we’re all still here. perhaps then they’ll decide to take a short route to heaven via shotgun at that point, and they decide to take their spouse and kids as well. or perhaps to save friends, family, or even strangers from the complete collapse and pain on the 21st, they decide to give them a quicker way out than the fires and other catastrophes.
Or what if they decide they are “gods instrument” and it’s their job to jump-start the apocalypse? what if they’re in a position of power where they can get a hold of materials to do _real_ damage?
these people think, with EVERY fiber of their being, that this Sat, they are the special people that will be meeting the Heavenly Father that is going to reward them for all of their “piousness”. imagine the ultimate despair that will hit them. imagine the repercussions.
And if Camping can convince these people that the mothership will be beaming them up on Sat- just think of the minor things that Camping, and others like him, could convince these people, and others like them, of. that the president is a communist anti-christ, born in kenya. that all “liberals” are communists out to destroy the country. the list goes on.
these are the reasons that a strong stand must be made against people caught up in these crazy thought bubbles. Every word from the television, every word from the car radio, and maybe a radio or tv at work- is this crazyness- and eventually it takes. once it takes, everything that they see or hear supports their delusions (confirmation bias).

Also, it’s just proving a point that the life of Jesus wasn’t coincidence. Also, I don’t care if you don’t believe in Jesus Christ… that’s your choice. I like stories about guys like Josh McDowell who set out to disprove the bible, as an atheist. So I guess Jocephus, Pliny the Younger, Nero, Nero’s statesmen, and any other Roman historian of the times that I can’t think of right now made up all of their history stories too? Yes others wrote books of the times but were not added to the Bible. The idea that Constantine changed the Bible is kind of an urban ledgend of sorts. If there were documents to support this change it would be easier to swallow. And, if there were not already copies of the Bible as we know prior to Constatine being born it may be plausible there were changes made to certain words or phrases, but not edited per your suggestion.

Everyone has the right to either accept God or not to accept Him. God gives us our own free will. I know a lot of you don’t believe in God or accept Him, but that’s your own choice and for anyone who rejects what followers of God are saying is not rejecting them or any other man they are rejecting God alone. If you have never known God’s love that he has for you then you can never understand Him or have a relationship with Him because there’s more to being a Christian than just going to Church. Once you accept God into your heart you experience a peace and comfort and joy in life that nothing else can give you. A lot of times people try to fill their happiness with drugs, sex, alcohol, or other sins, but that can only give you happiness for a small amount of time. When you accept God into your heart and you make Him boss of your life and you build a personal relationship with Him then you rely on Him for that happiness and there’s no other physical or emotional feeling like it that can ever be obtained. That’s all I want everyone to know. I’m not whitty with words or smart enough to tell you all the biblical history or theories, but I know that God loves me and He sent His son to die for us because He loved us so much and because He wanted to have a relationship with man. As a rational human being I can say with almost 99 percent certainty that the world will not end Saturday, however if physics teaches us anything its that everything is possible however extremely unlikely. If the world does happen to end on Saturday, I would say with 99 percent certainty that it is not Bible related but more like a global catostrophere, and purely coincidental that it happened on the same day that a few people have perpetuated the rumor of the Christian rapture. In reading this forum I have realized that religious fanaticism is not countered by rationality and logic, which to me is much sadder than faithless individuals. To see people so blinded by their faith and so judgmental of those from a different viewpoint makes me wonder what their god is teaching them. If you deny history, art, and science and propaganda by false prophets, it makes me wonder if given the opportunity, you would destroy it. It is your cultural ignorance and ease of judgement that has contributed to genocide throughout history and I doubt that any god of any faith would welcome that kind of cruelty and judgement into heaven before us lesser more tolerant and culturally appreciative individuals. I am 17 years old and have faith in Jesus Christ. The world is NOT ending anytime soon… all I hear is “the end” and “doomsday”. The problem today is people are trying to find the easy way out. I am 14 years old. I have heard many lies about the end of the world such as the big scare in 2000 along with other years we were supposed to die! Harold said that world was supposed to end in 1994 and nothing happened. I don’t want to die at a young age and I don’t believe in what he says! Only god knows when time on Earth will end. Harold is scaring people with all this nonsense and it needs to stop.He has people driving vans along with wearing shirts that say “the end is near”.May 21 will be like a normal day, for people who are scared for may 21 than calm down because you will be okay and nothing bad will happen.

Julia, 2000 wasn’t supposed to be the end of the world, there were very real issues with banking software that was coded with the last 2 digits of the year. People took it to a whole new extreme, but, Y2K actually could have caused issues. Some idiots random predictions for the end of the world, not so much.

At the very best scenario, their chances are 50/50, and only by coincidence. They present the crazy fantasies of their own minds as facts to people. They know that many people are gullible. They prey on fear. There is also such a thing as alarmists. I do not know why they do this. To automatically believe in a human being’s predictions of doomsday is folly.
