Big news today – Rosie Perez is still acting! Okay that isn’t the big news – but honestly, did you know she was still around? She was acting in 2009 – when she was on the show Law & Order: SVU. Apparently, she was injured during the show and is now taking legal action.
Biting the ONLY hand that feeds Perez might be a bad idea.
According to the NY Daily News, Perez was injured when she was shook violently by an extra causing her to suffer a herniated disk. She has had two surgeries since to try and revert the damage.
“The thing to do was taking someone who knows what he’s doing to make it look violent without being violent,” said Perez’s lawyer Brian O’Dwyer.”This person was not a stuntman, he was just an extra.”
Did she finish the episode? Yes. Her lawyer said this only worsened her situation. “There was pressure on her to continue and finish up the episode and she did,” he said The actress showed up at a White House ceremony (where no doubt cameras were ablazing) in a wheelchair and neck brace. Setting up Exhibit A perhaps?
Apparently O’Dwyer expects “very substantial” damages – if I were the judge I’d make her pay him for wasting his precious time. Apparently the accident resulted in Perez not working for nearly a year..
Whose she going to sue next? Her faltering career?
