It’s the night American Idol fans have been waiting for since the beginning of the season. Tonight is the AI finale and one lucky person has just been crowned American Idol winner 2011!

The answer you’ve been waiting for is Scotty McCreery which will undoubtedly have some fans upset.
It has been clear since the beginning that both Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery had very dedicated (and large) fab bases and, after reading many comments left on Twirlit earlier today (read them here), it seemed as though the race was even closer than we originally thought.
I have to say that both Lauren and Scotty are worthy of the American Idol title but I picked Lauren from very early on in the season to win. I think she’s loveable, she’s got a great voice and she’s versatile. Forgive me for saying this but I think Scotty is a little too one-dimensional for an American Idol winner (please don’t kill me).
So now that you know who won American Idol 2011, tell me, are you happy with the results?
I love them both. They will both be huge stars. I picked Scotty from the start. After hearing his voice I knew he was a star.

I was a Scotty fan since day 1. He has an amazing voice and totally deserves it. He’s a natural. Lauren is also good but there was no question in my mind that Scotty was always better. Sorry for all those who don’t agree but there’s no reason to get nasty about it. I’m sure Lauren’s career doesn’t end tonight.

Not really suprised. They got rid of all the REAL talent from this season way early on. Scotty in my opinion was by far the worst one out of all of the contestants. He’s a one trick pony that sounds like every other male country singer.
There are too many singers that sound like Lauren. Scotty has an amazing voice, not saying Lauren doesn’t but not like Scotty’s. Yes, his voice is primarily country, he’s also very versatile and can sing many other types of music. He’s an overall great performer and he’s going to go far.

I cant believe it! Hailey, James, OR MOSTLY KACEY, were my top 3 from the start! Lauren’s auditions were better then anything she ever sang afterward but Scotty, he was a star from the start! Just didnt think he would end up as Americas choice.. what a disappointment in the whole show this year! and as much as I love STEVEN TYLER.. he sucked as a judge. All he ever did was compliment everyone! SO OVER it…,.
@Kai keep in mind that Haley as most of the contestants this year, was VERY young. I don’t know how old you are but try and remember what your attitude was like at her age. We all tend to get defensive when being attacked by someone that doesn’t like us (and Randy HATED Haley for whatever reason) but more so when you are young and haven’t learned how to deal with critisisim. I’m sure the only reason why the other two finalists never got that way was because the judges licked the hole they pooped out of. I never heard them make comments to Lauren or Scotty like they did to Haley, and in my opinion she was better then the two of them put together.

I and all my friebds stopped watching Idol a week ago. Both Scotty and Lauren should have been long eliminated and were boring. We woykd record the show and ALWAYS fast forewarded through them both, so when they were all that was left, the show was not worth watching and I didnt care which of them won. James Durbin should have won, hands down. Only reason he didnt is because so many assumed he would, that they voted for thwir choice number two to assist them. Great season, bad ending!!
I liked haley Lauren and scotty but I think Haley should have won. She had the best voice in my opinion. I love to sing and what I wouldn’t give to have Haleys voice!

I loved them both from the beginning, but I have to say Lauren is better. Then again, this season was full of surprise eliminations-Pia, Casey and James were also some of my faves and got eliminated way too early. I’m happy for Scotty, I think he has a good voice, but Lauren’s is better.

They are both crappy. Neither one of should of won. James has a much better voice then both of them and same with Casey. Scotty is only good for country fans and Lauren is too young to be worrying about fame at an young age that is when you turn really spoiled when you get famous.

He sounds like Gomer Pyle. Both of them were horrible. I’m learning each year that these shows hardly ever choose good talent. It”s more like a popularity contest. Only a few talented ones were chosen due to talent. Fantasia, Ruby, they were true talent.
I am so happy for Scotty, he is a man of God ! and he is able to demenstrated that in front of a world that needs to see someone who acts and believes in God.
I pray that Lauren is a woman of God…If she is nothing will stop them both to being sucessful…

I liked them both, but Scotty was my pick to win … he reminds me of the old time Country Singers & I wish he had sang an oldly country western song during the show … his voice is great & different! I’m sure Lauren will do well after the show too.
I think Scotty has a great voice – but is limited to C & W only – I have always been a fan
of AI – but, the thing that always was appealing of a winner – was the versatility of the winner – and I don’t feel Scotty has that.
He will be a big CW star – for sure – and he deserves it – as he will stay in that genre of music.
Haley Reinhart should have one – she is just so versatile and can sing just about any
kind of genre – an AI should be well-rounded.
Wouldn’t this year have been different if Simon were a judge. While I enjoyed Jennifer
and Steven – they were just too nice all season long – and Randy – well, all he can say is “so and so is in it to win it’ – not much of a change from past years….
With the competition from The Voice (super concept) and Simon’s new XFactor soon to
appear on the tube – it will be interesting to see what happens with AI and its fan base.
Still – it’s fun to watch – it’s just that people vote for a favorite individual – as opposed to talent! And, that should be the criteria that people vote – for the skill/talent.
Oh well….

They both seem like great kids, healthy choices as Idols for kids in America. I voted for Lauren. I really believe she has more to offer as a performer: more expressions, more vocal versatility, and more mobility (not tied to a guitar). America voted, so I guess most people should be happy. it surprises me that so many seem disappointed that country was so strong in this competition. Truth is all of the contestants were strong. America picked the country singers. That is just the way it is. lol
Listen to you guys! They both had talent, but in my opinion, I think Lauren would have succumbed to peer pressure as a celebrity and gone downhill fast. I think it’s best that Scotty won.
completely agree. she fell under pressure in the beginning of the season and lost a tremendous amount of confidence, and that was when a lot of people had a huge support for her and she was a major favorite. She could have just gone up there, sung a rift and left and people still would have voted for her. She would never be able to handle the pressure.
Personally I thought Casey or Haley should have won, because that’s the style of music I like. But I won’t deny that Scotty also has a great voice.

Both are generic and should have been eliminated long ago. Too many 6 year olds voting. Casey and James should have been the two finalists; both had creativity and a marked originality.

I don’t understand why everyone is hating on either side. They are both clearly fantastic singers that both deserve to be in the finale. If they didn’t deserve to be there, they wouldn’t. And music is about what the people want. Who has the most charisma to sell great music which I believe the both will. As a country fan myself, Scotty’s voice is absolutely perfect. Lauren’s as well, she has so much range when singing that, in my mind, just because she didn’t win, does not mean that no music record is going to scoop her up in a heart beat!
Just remember, this is just a title. There are so many American Idol winners that haven’t made it into the music business as well as some of the losers, correct? So in turn, Lauren may become a bigger and more successful artist then Scotty.
Both of these extremely talented singers deserved the title of American Idol 2011.
Neither, I wanted Haley to win-sorry Country folks….. Haley can’t wait for the album.

I think scotty has an excellent voice. Lauren also. Haley had the janis joplin talent. Either way it goes they will all three become something more than just a contestant on american idol. I mean what idol winner have we saw more than 2 seconds of? Lauren will get hers and scotty by far was the winner in my eyes.
I thought they were both really good singers and didnt really care which one won.My favorite was James!Another really good one was Pia..But there were alot of really good singers this season..
They got rid of the true talent to early, Scotty is a good singer don’t get me wrong but I think he has one genre and doesn’t have a versatile enough voice to have won American idol. There are so many others that deserved to win instead of Scotty. The judges this year truly went on bias opinions and favoritism, instead of judging the talent they judged the person and whether they liked them or not.
It’s not all the judges fault either, America really made a bad choice, they chose about the only contestant that had a “one trick pony” voice. He shouldn’t have won and American idol, in my book, has now gone down hill.
