Solar Eclipse 2011 Midnight Eclipse: What Time, Where and Best Viewing for Photos!

A solar eclipse is a somewhat rare natural phenomenon that only occurs a few times a year and can only be seen from certain parts of the world. The solar eclipse 2011 is tonight (June 1st) and we have all the details you need to score the best shots of the event.

Where:

This particular partial eclipse can be viewed from northern parts of China, Japan, Siberia, Scotland, Iceland, Canada, Alaska and Scandinavia.

Those in central Nova Scotia and New Brunswick will have particularly good viewing for this eclipse while those living in the UK should be located in the northernmost part of the Shetland Islands or on the North-West coast of Lewis to view the event at the optimal angle.

When:

The eclipse will begin in China and Siberia at 1925 GMT. It will make its way across the Arctic, crossing the International Date Line, ending in the early evening tonight (Wednesday, June 1st) in northeastern Canada.

Those of you interested in astronomy will also want to mark June 15 down on your calendar. On Wednesday June 15 there will be a total eclipse of the moon which will be viewable for millions of people in Africa, the Middle East and southwester Asia. It will not be visible for anyone in North America but I’m sure we can all see the pics online afterwards.

Feel free to share a link to your pics from tonight’s solar eclipse in the comment section below!
