The Voice TV Show: Frenchie, Nakia, Dia Frampton or Casey Weston – Who was your Fav?
The first half of the semi-finals were pretty exciting. Coaches helped their performers pick a song while they coached them through it. In the first half we saw Frenchie, Nakia, Dia Frampton and Casey Weston.
The competition started off with Frenchie singing Madonna’s Like a Prayer. I thought it was really good. Although Frenchie has not been my favorite competitor throughout the show, I must give her props for a great performance.
Next up was Nakia singing Adam Lambert’s Want From Me. This was a very different song for Nakia. He started by singing at the piano and he was a lot more subdued than normal. He was powerful, and he sang perfectly but I’m just not sure it really showcased his voice. I only really saw the Nakia we’ve come to love in the last couple of notes when he was working the crowd and he hit that last note. Overall he did amazing. I just didn’t like the particular song for him.
One of my personal favorites Dia Frampton was up next. Her song? REM’s Losing My Religion. What a great song! After her version of Kanye West’s Heartless was performed a couple of weeks ago I have been waiting anxiously to see what’s next for her and she definitely impressed me! She totally made it her own, and created something that will no doubt will a hit! I will be very surprised if she doesn’t at least make the top 3 in this competition.
Casey Weston was up next. It’s still a surprise she is still in this competition and not Jeff Jenkins in her place. She sang Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You. Crazy choice and Adam’s advice wasn’t much better. “Don’t sound like Whitney” he tried to engrain in her head. How could you not? The song is a classic – anything but is just a lackluster performance. I personally didn’t enjoy her performance – I thought she was a bit wobbly in the beginning and the performance overall was so-so.
For the first half of the show – I have to say Dia Frampton is my favorite. She’s unique, her style is different and her covers are one of a kind and in most cases sound better than the performers themselves!
What do you think? Who is your Favorite?
