Princess Diana Newsweek Cover Photo: Cool or Creepy?

Princess Diana may have passed away in 1997 but her spirit has lived on in many for the past 14 years. While it seems perfectly acceptable to commemorate the late Princess, computer-generating an image of what she may have looked like at 50 years old and slapping it on the cover of a popular magazine is more than a little creepy, if you ask me.

Newsweek Magazine has just released this cover of what Princess Diana would look like at 50 years old (her 50th birthday would have been this coming Friday) walking beside Kate Middleton (who would have now been her daughter-in-law) as if they were great friends.

In Kate’s photo, the Duchess of Cambridge appears to be looking right at Diana, who is staring directly into the camera with her signature coy look.

The question is, is the cover inappropriate and disrespectful to the Royal Family who would probably prefer not to know what their late mother would look like 14 years after her death.

Tina Brown wrote the article inside the magazine. When asked if she thought it was creepy, she revealed her appreciation for the photo.

“We wanted to bring the memory of Diana alive in a vivid image that transcends time and reflects my piece,” she said in a statement Tuesday.

I have to disagree.

Do you think the Princess Diana Newsweek cover is cool or creepy?

It’s completely uncool and completely tacky. Newsweek is clearly desperate to even contemplate, much less actually publish, this sort of trash.
