Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith Leaving Glee – Confirmed!
Fans of the popular hit TV show Glee will undoubtedly be upset over news that three of the show’s main characters will be leaving after next season.
Lea Michele (who plays Rachel Berry), Chris Colfer (who plays Kurt Hummel) and Cory Monteith (who plays Finn Hudson) will all be graduating next season and the show’s producer Ryan Murphy has decided that it’s best if all three characters leave the show for good.
“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year,” says Ryan of the characters’ fate next year.
As for whether the actors know about their departure, Murphy says at least two of them know for sure.
“We made that decision and I involved Chris and Lea and they thought that was a good idea. They both trust the writing and trust me and felt that it would be great to have an open and closed experience for them to go out while they were on top.”
As for Cory, Ryan says that he hasn’t spoken with him directly about Finn graduating but he’s pretty sure he knows that it’s the end of the road for him and his character.
Wow, can’t believe so many big stars are leaving!
Kind of reminds me of Saved by the Bell when they brought in the new group. The show was never the same afterwards.
Do you think Ryan Murphy made the right decision in letting Lea, Chris and Cory go?
