Drop Dead Diva: Jane’s Got a New Love Interest!
Um, so, yeah, time for me to confess to my Drop Dead Diva addiction. I know, I know, it’s on LIFETIME! And yet, I kind of love it. There are actually a couple of Lifetime shows I have a soft spot for. Now there’s a sentence I never dreamed I’d type! Turns out, “television for women,” doesn’t have to be totally embarrassing after all.
Or at least it doesn’t when it offers us lovely, hilarious and totally unexpected heroines like Brooke Elliot’s Jane Bingum. Playing a bubbly six foot blonde soul dropped into a short, plus sized lawyer’s body, Elliot brings a dynamic combination of the model’s self confidence and the lawyer’s smarts to a role that serves as the perfect vehicle for female fulfillment. What would you be capable of if you could have a super model’s self esteem packed into your own uniquely gorgeous skin? If Jane’s example is to be believed, pretty much anything you want.
That’s why it’s so exciting to see Jane paired up with a new love interest who isn’t the hot, but ultimately less than exciting, Grayson. Lex Medlin, who plays the new Judge in Jane’s life, is a perfect choice for the role. Charismatic and handsome, but nobody’s super model, he matches Elliot’s knock out real lady looks and he can (almost) keep up with her acting chops. Is he here to stay? We sure hope so!
