Elizabeth Taylor’s jewelry collection has proven to be almost as stunning as the late actress/film icon herself. On December 13th and 14th Taylor’s famous jewels will go up for auction at the renowned Christie’s Auction House in New York. This will be the end of a global tour for the prized jewels, including the famous 33.19-carat Asscher-cut Krupp Diamond, later known as the Elizabeth Taylor Diamond, a gift from her former husband Richard Burton.
Taylor was well known for her love of diamonds and other fine things, like fashion and art. Also going up on the auction block are the famous 16th-century La Peregrina Pearl and the 17th-century Taj Mahal diamond pendant, also gifts from Richard Burton.
Taylor died in March 2011 at the age of 79 and left behind countless items of memorabilia that will also be sold off to the highest bidder. A portion of the proceeds from the sale, which is expected to raise up to $30 million, will go towards the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation – a charity that Taylor herself was a huge supporter of.
If you had the money – would you buy any of the iconic jewels?
