It’s a week for daughters revealing intimate details of famous mothers. First Caroline Kennedy and Jackie O’s tape recorded musings on her marriage, and her controversial private opinions, and now Christina Crawford releasing her mother Joan’s nude videos.
And you thought the sex tape trend was a recent development!
Since Christina Crawford’s best selling autobiographical books, including Mommie Dearest and Survivor the two books she has based her new one woman play upon, are mostly about her tumultuous relationship with her mother, it’s hardly that shocking that she is willing to play her mother’s newly discovered blue movies as part of the show.
Christina herself apparently didn’t know the films existed, according to her conversation with Huffington Posts’ Rob Shuter:
“I never knew that they existed before a year ago and never saw them before a month ago,” Crawford told Shuter. “I remembered her telling me about her married lover, Charles McCabe; however, I never saw photos of him till the home movies, when they were hunting, fishing and canoeing in the Poconos.”

This is absolutely disgraceful. How old is Christina now?? She’s got to be about 72, which makes this even more doubly creepy. How long does someone go on trashing their mother’s name & reputation & making a living off of it? Facts: Christina wrote her first tell all memoir Mommie Dearest while her mother was still alive and dying of pancreatic cancer. Facts: Her mother found about it, read the book in fact, and found out that Christina involved her brother Christoper into this book. Facts: when confronted about the book by her mother, Christina told her mother she was going through with the book exactly as it was written (which was indicative of their relationship and Christina’s bratty behavior). Facts: Joan disinherited Christina & Christopher from her Will as a result of the damn book and told them in the Will ‘I leave you nothing and you both know why”. All of this was confirmed by Joan and Christina Crawford’s close friends and colleagues. But despite this, Christina has made a pretty good living disgracing her mother’s name & reputation. The only thing she couldn’t disgrace is her mother’s body of work. It’s truly sad & pathetic for someone in the Winter years of her life to still be going on like this. Such a sad life. Joan’s been dead for many years. Christina would get more respect at this point if she earned a living completely on her own merit, not from her famous mother. I hope this play bombs badly.
