When Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston started dating, I thought: she’s dating HIM? This grungy walking beard?? (And admit it, you thought that too.) But with a new profile and photo spread in GQ, Theroux is making me think that Jen presciently saw some potential beneath the scruff.
In the shoot, 40 year-old Justin models ’70s styles inspired by Al Pacino in Serpico. He’s all gritty and badass, with cigarettes, guns and chest hair on display. Perhaps there’s such a thing as a sophisticated bad boy? The one thing that seems off is GQ’s labeling Justin as “Mr. Jennifer Aniston” – since it sort of strips him of his masculine power.
As for that infamous beard (which is now shaved off), Justin says, “You establish all sorts of mannerisms with it. Like when you’re bored, you can feather your mustache.” As for the ladies – “Certain chicks dig it; certain chicks don’t.” Hmm. Sounds like Jen didn’t like it. Maybe that’s where the label came from.
According to US Weekly, Jen & Justin are currently living together in a rented house in LA that costs $17,500 a month. We’ll keep watching that beard as a sign of the state of their relationship!
