Adele Cancels Tour, Will Undergo Surgery For Hemorrhaged Vocal Chord
Adele has cancelled all of her 2011 concerts and promotional appearances – but not because she has throat cancer. Us Weekly reports that Adele’s rep shot down the scary Internet rumors about the singer’s condition, explaining what’s really going on: “We would like to reiterate that Adele is to undergo surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal chord,” the rep said. “All reports regarding any other condition are 100 percent false.”
According to Adele’s website, “a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.”
So what exactly is the 23 year-old songstress dealing with? From E! News: “a hemorrhage left untreated or occurring repeatedly may result in scarring of the vocal folds, which is a condition that is much harder to treat and has permanent effects on voice quality.”
