The web is buzzing with rumors that Eva Longoria is dating Lakers forward, Matt Barnes. Longoria, on the other hand, maintains that there’s no truth to the whispers spawned by the two having a cozy night out with friends in New York City last week.
Not only did her reps release statements to the affect that the pair are just friends, but Longoria Tweeted Sunday to tell her side of the story.
“First Jessica Simpson, now this,” Longoria tweeted, referring to the then still unsubstantiated rumors about Simpson’s pregnancy. “Matt Barnes and I are not dating. We are doing a charity event together for Padres and Athletes vs. Cancer.”
Of course, it’s unfortunate that Longoria’s example of an untrue rumor was confirmed as truth less than twenty four hours later, but we’re still willing to give Eva the benefit of the doubt. Or at least, we hope she hasn’t dropped her current flame, Eduardo Cruz, in favor of Barnes, whose last relationship ended with Barnes being arrested for domestic violence. Barnes maintains that the charges were a misunderstanding, but lets hope Longoria is sticking with Cruz anyway.
