X Factor USA Rachel Crow: Her Amazing Story (And Last Night’s Performance)!
Thirteen year old bundle of energy Rachel Crow is the last of the X-Factor contestants you might suspect had a difficult past… after all, she’s hardly old enough to have a past. But it turns out that Crow was born to a crack addicted mother and suffered abuse before she ended up with the Crow family.
“She was born a crack baby and actually lived in a crack house and suffered a lot of abuse,” Rachel’s adoptive mother, Barbara Crow, told the New York Post.
“But she is totally unaffected by it. She never looks at [her past] in a sad way. She looks at it as that is what made her the person she is.”
The Crows took Rachel in at six months as a foster child, then formally adopted her a year later. Rachel, a bundle of energy who has charmed the nation on X-Factor doesn’t bat an eye at discussing her past. Nor does she have any desire to find her birth parents.
“I have two amazing parents already,” she told The Post. “It is crazy because everybody is like, ‘She is not your real mom.’ And I am like, ‘Yeah, she is!’ ”
As if this talented sweetheart wasn’t a remarkable enough kid, she says she wants to put the five million dollars she might win on X-Factor towards helping other foster children.
If she wins the $5 million first prize, Rachel says she wants to help other foster kids.
“I want to build a foundation that makes them feel good about themselves — whether they want to sing or act or whether they want be in sports or go to Harvard,” she says. “I want to make sure they get to chase their dreams.”
