Demi Moore Divorce 2011: A Bitter Battle?
It’s not terribly surprising, after months of rumors of infidelity and marital struggles, but we’re still sad to report that Demi Moore announced her intention to divorce Ashton Kutcher on Wednesday. We reported the news when it happened but, since then, even more media coverage has taken place and everyone’s wondering how the two superstars plan to settle their divorce.
Moore and Kutcher were an unusual couple, one of the first to start the trend of older women marrying much younger men (Moore is sixteen years older than Kutcher). But, they seemed happy and have always demonstrated a remarkably friendly relationship with Moore’s ex, and the father of her grown children, Bruce Willis.
Their divorce will likely be remarkable as well. Between them, Moore and Kutcher are estimated to be worth $290 million dollars. That’s a lot to wrangle over, assuming there isn’t a prenup involved. If they file in California, and there isn’t a standing legal agreement over what will happen in case of a divorce, then they’ll split their fortune down the middle per California law.
Ashton, a canny investor who leans towards fresh and innovative tech projects, including Skype, has kept up well, financially, with his older and better established wife. He may play a goof ball on TV, but he’s no dummy. Moore, of course, has a whole array of film roles still paying her residuals, as well as her on going acting career and the $90 million dollar settlement she took away from her marriage to Willis.
Lets hope these two can end their marriage with as much grace has they’ve handled problems they’ve been struggling with since allegations that Kutcher cheated on his wife on their sixth wedding anniversary with a 22 year old surfaced.
