Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez announced their split last week but already the former Bachelorette star is speaking out to the media about why exactly their relationship ended.
Ali, who told her fans on Twitter that she wanted privacy, wasted no time speaking out about their break up to PEOPLE Magazine, giving them inside details about the split.
“I wouldn’t be being truthful if I said this came out of nowhere,” Ali said tearing up.
“We definitely had been having problems. But I had always believed that we could work it out.”
Roberto and Ali had postponed the date of their wedding several times and made up countless excuses over the last 18 months as to why it wasn’t the right time to walk down the aisle.
Friends close to the couple believe the split was caused by two different lifestyles and two different plans for their futures.
Roberto was always clear about how he wanted a family woman who would stay at home and raise their kids while Ali was very open with the fact that she is career-driven and independent.
So what was the defining moment of their break up?
“We both realized we were unhappy more than we were happy,” says Ali. “And we both deserved more”
Ali seems to love the attention (she asked for privacy but turned around and did an interview with PEOPLE a few days later), wonder if she’ll be cast as the next Bachelorette 2012?

I would not mind seeing her on the Bachelorette again, she is fun and she’s this positive person that inspires you to want more for yourself and not just settle for the first avail guy. That some where there is still a fairy tale ending to our love stories.
