Day Lewis as Lincoln in Spielberg’s Epic: First Look!
Steven Spielberg doesn’t mess around. He’s competing with himself Christmas week with both War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin opening in the US at the same time. And in the meantime he’s busy shooting his next movie. Lincoln, a movie based on the book A Team of Rivals that focuses on the last four months of Lincoln‘s life before he was assassinated.
Most of the shooting of Lincoln has stayed inside and out of the prying eyes of the paparazzi. But a college student managed to get the first picture of Daniel Day Lewis, cast as Lincoln, eating at a local restaurant. Day Lewis isn’t in costume, but his beard and weathered face, caught in profile, is a pretty remarkable sight.
It’s easy to see why Day Lewis was cast – he looks a bit like an official portrait of the famous president jumped off the canvas and went out to find a pair of dad jeans and a mock turtle neck sweater. Official images are likely to follow, since the film is just one year from its release date, but this picture is way more fun.
