Karina Smirnoff was on top of the world a few weeks ago after she and partner J.R Martinez won the coveted mirror-ball trophy on the latest season of DWTS but her personal life wasn’t exactly as blissful as her professional career and, now, she’s just announced that she’s no longer engaged.
Karina and her fiancé, pro baseball player Brad Penny, were engaged for over a year before they both decided to call it quits this week. The dynamic duo had plans to walk down the aisle this year but decided to put those plans on hold so Karina could dedicate all of her attention on winning Dancing with the Stars.
There’s no word on exactly why they split, although friends have claimed that “they’re just different people.”
Karina was previously engaged to DWTS co-star Maksim Chmerkovskiy but insisted her current engagement was different because she finally found “a man who supports me and loves me unconditionally.”
