Virginia Tech Shooting December 2011: 2 People Confirmed Dead
As we reported just moments ago, there has been another shooting at Virginia Tech University and 2 people have now been confirmed dead by University officials.
The University spokesman has confirmed that one of the victims was a police officer and the incident occurred after a traffic stop. The other victim has not been identified.
VTU has been updating its Twitter page and official website with information on the shooter. The suspect has been described as a white male wearing grey sweat pants, a grey hat with a neon brim, a maroon hoodie and a backpack.
The university is asking anyone who sees a man following the description above to call 911 immediately.
In August of this year, the University had an incident where it was thought a gunman was on campus. Police never found the suspect and no one was injured in that incident.
In April of 2007 VT University became the crime scene for what has now been called the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in US history. 32 people were killed and 25 wounded in that incident, before the gunman committed suicide.
We’ll keep you posted on today’s incident. Anyone in the vicinity of the university should remain indoors.
