Jon Bon Jovi Dead?
Actually, Jon Bon Jovi is not dead, despite a powerful rumour sweeping the Internet. He didn’t die in New Jersey on December 19. This is a death hoax — maybe the last of 2011?
Numerous online reports stated that the rock star had died on Monday, and it appears that at least part of it was copied from a Los Angeles Times story that announced Michael Jackson’s death back in 2009. Upon close inspection, some of the sentences seemed to have been taken right out of the original Jackson article, and names switched out.
So, how does Jon Bon Jovi react to all of this? Lightheartedly. The Star-Ledger reported that, at his concert Monday night, ”[Jon] referred to the hoax several times, and even pantomimed taking phone calls from concerned friends checking to see if he was still alive”.
And since Jon jokingly tweeted that “‘Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey’-jbj. Rest assured that Jon is fine!”, it sounds like he’s taking the hoax in stride. What else can you really do when you’re the victim of a sensationalist story?
