Brock Lesnar Quits the UFC

Brock Lesnar officially announced his retirement from the UFC after he was defeated by Alistair Overeem just two minutes and 26 seconds into the first round. Lesnar was knocked out by a set of body kicks.

“I’ve had a really difficult couple of years with my disease,” said Lesnar. “And I’m gonna officially say tonight was the last time you’ll see me in the octagon.”

Lesnar had been struggling with diverticulitis, which led him to pull out of a fight against Junior dos Santos back in June 2011. Diverticulitis is a condition where the pouches in the lower portion of the large intestine become inflamed, causing abdominal pain, colon bleeding, amongst other complications.

Rumors are circulating that Lesnar will eventually return to fighting – with the WWE. However, he is still technically under contract with the UFC so it probably won’t happen anytime soon.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross tweeted,IF Lesnar does 1 off WWE appearance it could be easily built for a year. Don’t ever expect Lesnar 2 b a regular. Hates travel.”

Are you sad Lesnar retired? Do you think he’ll return to the WWE?
