Zooey Deschanel Divorcing Death Cab for Cutie Front Man Ben Gibbard
Actress/musician Zooey Deschanel and indie rock singer Ben Gibbard are officially calling it quits, filing for divorce after a few months of separation. The couple split on Halloween, but it wasn’t until December 27th that they decided to file for divorce due to “irreconcilable differences”, as People Magazine reports.
The divorce is nothing out of the ordinary, really. For one, so many celebrities are caught in the marriage/divorce cycle that it seems the natural state of life for those in the limelight. Secondly, there doesn’t seem to be any bad blood or messy property tug-of-war between these two indie rock mainstays. In fact, the income and expense declaration that Deschanel’s lawyer filed shows just how “normal” Zooey is (relatively speaking, of course). Living a modest life with minimal spending on luxuries, no debt and monthly donations to charity, it looks like she’s just as down-to-earth as she appears to be.
In an interview with People, Deschanel insisted that the split is nothing to sensationalize: “We’re friendly. It’s all fine.” It’s hard to be sad for two people that are not sad for themselves, but nevertheless, this breakup is a bit of a bummer, don’t you think?
