Tina Fey Disses Beyonce’s Ridiculous Birth Experience
Do you think Beyonce’s birthing experience, which involved paying to have rooms converted into a suite and keeping other parents away from their children, was ridiculous? So does Tina Fey. Us Weekly reports that the 30 Rock funnylady joked that she didn’t get the Beyonce treatment when she gave birth to her daughter Penelope at the same hospital.
“My celebrity treatment at Lenox Hill involved taking a group breastfeeding class in a closet,” Tina said during an appearance on The Today Show. “It’s clearly supposed to be a storage closet with a bunch of other mothers, and a nurse grabs one of your breasts and another lady’s and is shoving them in a baby’s mouth.”
She was careful to point out that she loved the hospital’s staff: “The nurses at Lenox Hill are fantastic,” Tina said. “They are the best. It’s a New York City hospital room! There’s like an ATM machine in the corner. It’s not fancy.”
Hospital officials shot down rumors that the birth of Blue Ivy caused trouble for other patients – but a Lenox Hill hospital official told Us Weekly, “A month ago, [workers] tore down 6-8 rooms and turned them into 2 suites,” and that Beyonce and Jay-Z “paid to have it constructed just for them.” Even more, the suites stayed empty for MONTHS!
Do you think it was a bit excessive? Sure, every woman’s first pregnancy is a big deal in her life…but the previous state of the hospital was good enough for everyone else…we’re with Tina on this one!
