Sarah Burke Dies – Ski Star Succumbs To Injuries Sustained In Accident
We reported a few days ago about about Canadian skier Sarah Burke, who was in a coma following an accident. Burke hit her head while making a run at a half-pipe training course in Utah.
Today, we have very sad news to report about the ski star. The Canadian Broadcasting Company’s official new alerts Twitter account is reporting that Burke has died as a result of her injuries. She was 29.
Burke was known as a star in the skiing world. She had won more titles than any other woman in the exhilarating and dangerous sport of freestyle skiing.
Her fame crossed over into the modelling world, where she posed for the magazine FHM after being named one of the 100 sexiest women alive.
According to the most recent reports about Burke’s health, doctors were trying to repair an artery that was causing bleeding in her brain. She was in a medically-induced coma in the intensive care ward of a hospital near the accident site.
Prior to the accident, Burke was training for the X Games, where she was the favorite to win the gold medal. She was also expected by many to take home the gold at the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia in 2014.
