Dane Cook Apparently Bombed At Comedy And Said Some Pretty Hateful Things, Too
Dane Cook is a polarizing figure in the comedy world. He’s one of very few comedians who can sell out arenas, but he’s also subject to the intense hatred of millions of comedy fans. His antics last night certainly won’t help him win over any new fans.
Cook reportedly showed up at the Laugh Factory, a comedy club in Los Angeles, and booted the comedians who were scheduled to perform off the bill so that he could go on stage for nearly an hour to work on new material. And the new material was awful.
Several comedians and fans in attendance tweeted about Cook’s performance and it is clear that it didn’t go over well. In short, he bombed. And he said some very questionable (and, frankly, hateful) things.
Comedian T.J. Miller was in attendance and he posted several tweets about Cook’s performance. He said that Cook was vicious, misogynistic, cruel, and arrogant. Miller wrote that Cook made a joke about not paying for an abortion and he described women as whores.
Lovely.
Cook responded, telling Laughspin, “I’ve always felt that comedians can’t be critics.” He went on to say that he was simply trying to explore his soul on stage.
I guess his soul is as big a douchebag as he is.
