American Idol: Contestants Deliver Amazing Solo Performances but Who Gets Cut?

26-year-old nanny Reed Grimm did not know that the solo performances are not permitted to be sung a capella, as he had planned. After a last-minute scramble and some crying, he decided to sing while playing the drums.  He actually pulled it off. Steven Tyler said he was extraordinary.

Rachelle Lamb began her performance by forgetting the lyrics and quickly pointing out in her charming country twang, “I think I just messed up.” She sang that song a second time and she was very good.

Adam Rock preceded his song with: “I think it’s about time American Idol has some white chocolate up in here.” His performance was also excellent.

The judges now have to decide who else to cut out. Jennifer Lopez commented, “It’s not just about singing, it’s about stars!”

The contestants were grouped and separated into four separate rooms.

The three rooms who made it through included those with Lauren Gray, Jermaine Jones, Adam Rock, Reed Grimm, Phil Phillips, Skylar Lane, Jessica Phillips, Heejun Han and Brittnee Kellogg.

In the room that didn’t make it, a bit of drama erupted before the judges came in to deliver the bad news.  A younger contestant yelled at Rachelle Lamb who was cracking jokes. She snapped, “Can you have some respect for the people in here who are upset? Some people are taking this seriously.”

The remaining hopefuls will head to Vegas next week, where there will apparently be more drama. Are you happy with the singers who made it?
