Randy Jackson Pulls a Simon Cowell, Tells Contestant Her Singing Is a Nightmare!
So I’ve been complaining since the boys’ performances that the judges have been way too easy on the contestants. After all, they gave the same amount of criticism to every single person last night.
Tonight, Randy admitted that they “gave away some passes” to the boys. The judges then went on to nip here and there but overall they continued to priase the contestants.
Until Haley Johnsen.
She sings Annie Lennox’s “Sweet Dreams.” Her speaking voice is alarmingly different form her singing voice. Steven in his typical apathy says she’s good. Jennifer begins by somewhat criticizing her but when the audience starts to boo, she placates them by saying she deserves to be in the competition and is a fabulous singer.
Randy, on the other hand, hesitates because he can’t quite figure out what to say. Then says Haley’s performance was more of a nightmare than a dream, and that Annie Lennox’s intricacies cannot be duplicated. The audience boos but quickly learns that Randy will not change his stance because of their reactions. Good for him!
