American Idol: Liv Tyler, Joe Perry of Aerosmith Surprise Steven Tyler for Birthday
It’s Steven Tyler’s birthday! Lead guitarist of Aerosmith Joe Perry hid behind the top ten contestants on stage and burst out equipped with his electric guitar to wish bandmate Steven Tyler a happy birthday.
Joe Perry then proceeded to play the birthday song on his guitar as the singers and the audience sang along. Liv Tyler and her son were in the audience as well. (Liv Tyler’s son looks just like her!)
Despite the festivities, it’s still elimination night. The top nine singers will move into the Idol mansion.
Jimmy Iovine is back to opine on the performances with his refreshingly blunt comments. He loved Jessica Sanchez (no surprise there), but wasn’t too crazy about Joshua Ledet, comparing him to Darth Vader and James Earl Jones. Not a bad comparison if you ask me. Jimmy wasn’t feeling Deandre Brackensick either, who is now in the bottom three.
Before that, Ryan Seacrest informed three female contestants, Skyler Laine, Elise Testone and Hollie Cavangh, of their safety.
