American Idol Top Ten Results: Erika Van Pelt Eliminated, Billy Joel Loves Colton Dixon
Erika Van Pelt, Heejun Han, Phillip Phillips, and Colton Dixon are up next to find out if they’ll make it into the top nine and live in the Idol mansion.
Yesterday, Colton sang the Billy Joel classic “Piano Man” while playing a red piano. Jimmy Iovine says Billy Joel emailed him after the show and said he really enjoyed Colton’s performance. What a compliment! Jimmy thinks Colton might be the third horse, after Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet.
Referencing Phillip’s blatant disregard for his mentors’ advice (Tommy told him to change his clothes, and Jimmy and Diddy advised him against performing with his guitar), Jimmy thinks he should take all the advice he could get.
Jimmy thinks Erika is “at the top of the batch” and is amazed she cut and dyed her hair so drastically overnight.
Jimmy agrees with Steven Tyler’s angry comments last night toward Heejun Han’s spirited performance. As a reminder, Steven Tyler asked Heejun, “Are you happy you sang the piss out of that song?” In response, Heejun Han says that ripping off his clothes and revealing a colorful ensemble underneath is a metaphor for who he really is. He also mentions he’s not looking to be a star and is happy with where he is in is life. So why’s he on the show then? What a waste of space for someone who really wants to be there and take it seriously.
Phillip is safe, and Heejun is in the bottom three.
So Deandre, Erika and Heejun are in the bottom three. However, Deandre soon finds out he’s safe. Then Heejun is safe.
Heejun is safe?!
Erika is on her way out, and the judges will not save her as a wild card save for the second time. Good bye, Erika!
