Madonna Glamorizes Drug Use, Sounds Out Of Touch, Gets Trashed By Deadmau5 (WATCH)

What do you do when you’re a 53-year-old pop star who’s struggling mightily to stay relevant to today’s youth? Here’s what you don’t do: go on stage and glamorize the use of drugs, all the while sounding like you have no idea what you’re talking about.

At the Ultra Music Festival in Miami this weekend, Madonna took to the stage and was rambling about various mundane topics when she said, out of the blue, “How many people in this crowd have seen molly?”

Check it out at the 0:45 mark in the video below:

Molly, for those who don’t know, is a powder form of the drug MDMA (which itself is one of the main ingredients in the drug ecstasy). It’s illegal, of course, but still very popular among ravers and fans of electronic dance music.

How giving molly a shout-out on stage makes any sense for Madonna is a question that is difficult to answer. She’s a grown woman with a young daughter. What does she really have to gain from glamorizing drug use besides getting a brief cheer from the crowd? Besides, if you really want to get the cheap pop that will arise from talking about a drug, wouldn’t you say something like “How many people are on molly?” Madonna asked who’s seen the drug, which is just weird.

Madonna’s new album is called MDNA, so it seems very likely that he comments were pre-medidated.

Electronic music artist Deadmau5 wasn’t a fan of Madonna’s words and took to Facebook to call her out:

“Very classy there madonna. ‘HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???’ such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra,” posted Deamau5.

He added: “Quite the f’n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! f*cking cant smack my head hard enough right now.”
