American Idol Shocker: Heejun Han Gets a Standing Ovation From Judges!

Skylar Laine explains that Miranda Lambert is her idol. She should’ve auditioned for The Voice. Blake would’ve surely chosen her. Skylar sings a country song I don’t know but she’s solid and entertaining as usual. Steven Tyler says, “That was over the top.” But he means it in a good way.

Colton, Elise and Phillip perform “Landslide” as a tribute to Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. I don’t remember them having trio performances in previous seasons so this is quite surprising. Either way, I’m glad they’re doing it because I like all three contestants and I like the song even more. Except when they abruptly transition into other songs which takes it from classy to cheesy. I’m surprised this isn’t another Ford commercial.

Heejun Han is up next. He was criticized last week for not taking the competition seriously so this week he decides to get serious. Jimmy says he’s a “Hee NEW Jun” and has a “spankin’ new attitude.”  The performance itself is extremely serious. Like the opposite of what he normally does, which is act like a goof-off making me squirm in my chair uncomfortably.

The judges give him a standing ovation!  Steven Tyler tells Heejun he doesn’t know how good he is.

Are you as shocked as I am that Heejun just pulled a 180?
