American Idol Elimination Night: JLo Tells Nicki Minaj There Is No Room for Her at Judges Table, Heejun Han Is Bottom Three
Nicki Minaj performs “Starships.” There’s a lot of hot pink glow on stage, and she emerges from a pod-like structure wearing a watercolor-splattered dress. She’s surrounded by some rather plain-looking dancers. The men are wearing tank tops and Hawaiian shorts. The show is nothing out of the ordinary for Nicki Minaj.
Ryan Seacrest briefly interviews Nicki after her performance, at which point she promotes her new album and mentions she’d like to return to Idol as a guest judge. She asks JLo if she’d scoot over. JLo responds, “There’s no room over here! I’m going to go ahead and assume there’s some hostility there.
Colton Dixon, Joshua Ledet and Heejun Han are up next. Jimmy says Colton was good but not good enough. He says the other contestants got emotional but held their poise. In a boxing analogy, he didn’t get knocked out but he was close. Of Joshua (a personal favorite), Jimmy says he delivered 85% of the night. Joshua, too, was also too emotional for him but he did “kill the Michael Jackson performance.”
Jimmy says it’s great to see Heejun come back and he thinks Steven Tyler’s “tough love” helped him get back on track. He says Heejun isn’t as good of a singer as the other eight contestants.
Colton is safe. Joshua is safe. Heejun is the second singer who’s now in the bottom three.
Joshua runs over to Hollie and gives her a huge. How sweet!
Are you surprised by this?
