American Idol Top 8 – 19 Year Old Joshua Ledet AMAZES Judges Yet Once Again!
Phillip Phillips chooses to sing Genesis’ 1983 “That’s All.” Gwen initially thinks he’s not ready to sing the song but after the determined practice she thinks he’ll fare alright. Phillip performs with his brother in law on stage, who taught him how to play the guitar. Steven Tyler says he’s a wallflower, JLo says the beginning was awkward and Randy says he was brilliant.
Hollie Cavanagh and DeAndre Brackensick sing Pointer Sisters’ “I’m So Excited.” Steven Tyler is glad Hollie let loose a little bit. JLo was at first dubious of this song choice for this particular duo but is satisfied with the results. Randy is impressed.
Steven Tyler suggests he isn’t too crazy about the ‘80s theme, especially because he “wasn’t really there for it” the entire time (subtext: he was high and crazy the entire decade).
Joshua Ledet, my personal favorite, sings “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.” Gwen says he possesses the “vocal gymnastics” but sometimes he overdoes it. His performance isn’t toned down at all. It’s extremely powerful and spectacular. He gets a standing O from the judges. Steven Tyler says he is so good it’s unreal. This guy is GOOD.
