American Idol: Elise Testone Channels JLo, Phillip Phillips Gets Standing Ovation for Usher Song
Jimmy Iovine says Elise Testone “has a vacation home in the bottom three” and she’s being judged from week to week rather than relying on a solid fan base. She says she’s not exactly sure why she’s always there. Anyway, this week she’s performing Alicia Keys’ “No One.” She looks like she’s in a Jennifer Lopez music video as she’s performing. She’s glowing, wearing a tight orange dress and there’s a lot of fan air on her. The judges love it.
Jimmy advises Phillip Phillips to keep doing what he’s been doing since whatever he’s been doing is keeping him out of the bottom. Phillip decides to sing Usher’s “You Got It Bad,” and Jimmy is surprised at how bizarrely good it is. The judges get on their feet for him. Steven Tyler says he never knows what to expect from him. JLo says it’s sexy. Randy says, “We have a true artist on the stage” and commends him for his originality. Looks like Phillip has positioned himself out of the bottom three again.
