American Idol Top 7: A Few Words for Dick Clark, Hollie Cavanagh Impresses With Adele Favorite
Today’s episode begins with one of the most dramatic and overemotional flashbacks ever – Jessica Sanchez getting saved last week. And looking quite pensive back at the Hollywood mansion as she views the replay of the results show.
Ryan Seacrest comes out and says a few words about Dick Clark before he introduces the Top 7. (We’ll miss you, Dick!)
Tonight, each contestant will perform twice – once a song from the 2000 Billboard charts and the second, a soul selection from another decade.
Hollie Cavanagh is singing “Rolling in the Deep.” Why do these contestants insist on performing Adele?! Jimmy Iovine predicts that Hollie will overthink her performance again, including facial expressions. She seems to be in a different place today. I can’t pinpoint why but she seems different… in a good way. Perhaps dodging the bottom three last week gave her more confidence? Steven Tyler says “it was perfect.” JLo is “so happy” that Hollie finally didn’t think. Randy says it wasn’t perfect but it was “close to perfect” which is still a compliment compared to previous week’s criticisms.
Colton is up next. Ryan gets Colton’s sister Skylar up on the stage to explain how she feels when she sees her brother on stage. She says she’s not planning to re-audition next year. Colton is taking on Lady GaGa’s “Bad Romance.” He says that he’s “taking on a new monster.” Randy thinks it was a job well done, JLo says it was exciting, and Steven advises him to keep taking chances and risks.
What’d you think?
