American Idol Top 7: Jessica Sanchez Takes on Alicia Keys, Skylar Laine Sings Country GaGa!
Jimmy Iovine says the judges had no choice but to save Jessica Sanchez last week because she shouldn’t be in the bottom three even “if she sings Yankee Doodle Dandy.” She sings Alicia Keys’ “Fallen” and sounds pretty damn incredible. Steven Tyler says she sounded like she was mad at the song and sometimes you just gotta do that. JLo says Jessica looks like a little baby but she plays with songs like she’s juggling. Randy says it’s brilliant and tells Alicia to “holla at your boy,” which of course is an implied way of saying that he’s homies with Alicia and he’s chummy with all the famous stars.
Jessica says she thought the judges interrupted her save song last week because they straight-up didn’t like her. Is that what she REALLY thought? She should know at this point that they and Jimmy completely adore her.
Skylar Laine goes for Lady GaGa’s country version of “Born This Way.” A violionist accompanies her performance. I like it. JLo says she loves this version of the song and likens Skylar to a boxer. Steven says she gave the other girls a run for their money. Randy also comments on Skylar’s rock-country crossover, and says she’s beyond ready.
