American Idol Top 7: Joshua Ledet Sings Fantasia, Second Half Inspired by Soul Train, Don Cornelius
Joshua Ledet sings Fantasia’s “I Believe” because she’s one of his main inspirations and reasons for auditioning for Idol. Jimmy asks Joshua why he thinks he was in the bottom last week and Joshua has no idea. Jimmy says Joshua’s got a bit of deer in the headlights going on and needs to look deep inside to figure out what else he could do differently to avoid the bottom three.
After Joshua’s performance, the judges get up on their feet. Randy says the performance was incredible and Joshua is one of the best singers on the show. JLo says she’s blessed to have him in the competition. Steven Tyler says he could sing the phone book.
The second half of the show is a tribute to soul. Tony Cornelius, son of Soul Train brainchild Don Cornelius, is in the audience.
Hollie is up again. Ryan shows her a video of the Liverpool Football Club wishing her luck. She sings “Son of a Preacher Man.” It’s definitely not as good as her first song. But the judges think it’s awesome.
