American Idol Jessica Sanchez Sings Best Rendition of Dance With My Father EVER, per JLo
The contestants get to choose their own songs for the second half of the show. The pre-performance video montage will consist of the contestants’ comments about each other.
Jessica Sanchez is up first and decides to sing Luther Vandross’ “Dance With My Father” because her dad is being deployed to Singapore very soon. This is a highly emotional performance and it’s making me sad. I think Jessica looks amazing and sounds even better.
JLo says it was the most beautiful rendition of the song she’s ever heard. The tenderness, feeling and vocal ability really make it work for her. Steven Tyler says her voice has a touch of Whitney. Randy thinks Jessica’s singing ability comes naturally.
Skylar Laine is next. Her contestants like to imitate her on-stage wild hair/head flinging. Hollie says she’s thick-boned but she means thick-skinned. Randy says he is a ginormous fan of Skylar. JLo comments on how comfortable Skylar is. Steven urges her to choose songs that give her a lot of flair.
