Vanessa Williams Hates on ‘Toddlers & Tiaras’, Tiara-Tot Mom Fires Back (VIDEO)
The producers and stars of Toddlers & Tiaras are no strangers to harsh criticism. It’s no secret that many people feel that the show is exploitative of the young girls who are its stars. But what do the (grown) women who appear in beauty pageants think?
In a recent interview with Anderson Cooper, former Miss America Vanessa Williams made her opinion on the controversial show very, very clear.
“When the child is screaming and saying, ‘I don’t want to do this. I don’t feel like doing it.’ When they are using special juice to get them hyped … that’s not my world and I would never have my kids do that,” Williams stated.
Wendy Dickey, a pageant mom whose daughter Paisley has appeared on the show in some rather scandalous outfits, wasn’t having it, and fired back with some choice words of her own.
“Posing nude and having an abortion is ‘not my world’ and I would never have my kids do that. So easy on the judging, Vanessa!,” pronounced the pageant parent. She is referring, of course, to Williams’ past as a nude model in Penthouse, as well as her admission in her new book that she had an abortion in high school.
So, whose side are you on? Do you think that pageant moms are justified in entering their very young daughters in beauty pageants? Tell us in the comments!
