American Idol Top Four Sing California Dreamin Songs and Songs They Wish They Wrote
It’s time for the top four to battle it out for the semi-finals. They are: Phillip Phillips, Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Hollie Cavanagh.
Tonight there are two rounds of competition: The first is California Dreamin’ which are songs from or about the Golden State or created by artists from Cali. In the second round, the contestants will sing songs they wish they had written.
Phillip Phillips is up first with “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.” Steven Tyler says Phillip is living proof that the road to success is always under construction. Is that a compliment? JLo says it was a great way to start the show. Randy says he was pitching at the beginning but his whole vibe lightened up at the chorus.
Hollie Cavanagh is next and they instantly show footage of her audition process last year. She didn’t make it through the second round. This year, she’s in the top four. Whoa! She sings Journey’s “Faithfully.” Randy says some stuff about how he’s associated with Journey. JLo looks super emotional and commends her for being relaxed and ready to share her gift with everyone. Steven makes a metaphor about singing and flowers blooming.
