American Idol Top Four Results Show: Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh Sent Back to Couch
According to Ryan Seacrest, the contestants are absolutely desperate to make it past this week so they can make it to “Hometown Hero” week, in which the the contestants get whisked away to their hometowns in a private jet and they get greeted by millions of fans.
Idol alum David Cook and Jennifer Lopez will be performing tonight.
Phillip Phillips comes up on stage. Jimmy Iovine refers to his performance dynamics as “magical” and implies that it’s just the beginning for him; as in, he’s not going home tonight. He continues to comment that he’s magnificent and would’ve signed him immediately if he watched his Damien Rice performance in a hypothetical club.
Ryan sends Phillip back to the couch and makes it clear that this isn’t an indication if he’s staying in or not. It just means he still doesn’t know.
Hollie Cavanagh is next. Jimmy says that all the criticisms he’s had for Hollie actually benefited her for her “Faithfully” peformance. Jimmy thinks it wasn’t good enough. Jimmy says Hollie did not understand the core of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me.” In other words, she butchered the song.
Hollie is also sent back to the couch. She also doesn’t know if she’s out yet. Then David Cook performs.
Who else is quite certain Hollie is going home tonight? If not, there will be some major drama.
