Britney Spears Signs On As ‘X Factor’ Judge!
After months of speculation, Britney Spears has signed on as one of the next X Factor judges. It’s reported that the Toxic singer has sealed the deal with a $15 million contract, much more than the speculated $10 million dollar deal.
Britney will be sitting alongside Simon Cowell in the Americanized reality series, taking the spot of former judges Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and Steve Jones–who were all fired from the first season.
“She’s ready for this,” says an insider. “She can’t wait to sit down next to Simon at the judges’ table and give this everything she’s got. She is excited about showing the world that she can do this, and do this well. This is the perfect next stage in her career. Both Britney and Simon are very excited to work together.”
Simon feels the same way and puts a lot of faith in the pop star who’s slowly turning her life around. “The fact that she’s one of the most talked about — not just pop stars, but people — in the world today means that you’ve got this star power,” remarked Cowell. “She’s still hot, she’s still having hit records, and she’s still controversial. There’s a reason for that.”
The first season of X Factor hadn’t done as well as Cowell would have wanted. He predicted that the show would draw 20 million viewers, but it averaged 12 million instead, leading to the quick disposal of the judges. Maybe this season will be different with Britney in one of the judges seat. There’s still one remaining spot and stars such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato have been pegged for the last spot.
