Most Popular Baby Names For 2012 Revealed!
The most popular baby names for 2012 have been unveiled – and you’ll never guess what boy’s name has been #1 for the last 13 YEARS: Jacob! According to The New York Daily News, the Social Security Administration’s annual list of most popular baby names features Jacob at #1 for boys, while Sophia has taken the top spot for girls (beating out last year’s favorite, Isabella, which is now down to #2).
Here are the top 10 baby girl and baby boy names for 2012:
Boys:

7. Ethan

Girls:
1. Sophia

The SSA says that the popular girls names tend to change a lot more often than boys’ names. Michael, has been on the list for decades – but #6 is its lowest ranking since 1948. Perhaps we have Kourtney Kardashian to think for Mason being #2. And of course, Will Smith’s son Jayden Smith must have had some influence, since his name is #4.
Other fun baby name facts:
The fastest rising boy name is Brantley, which is currently #320.
The fastest rising girl name is Briella (currently #497), which might have something to do with Jerseylicious cast member Briella Calafiore. Yikes.
The second-fastest rising boy name is Iker. Gross!
