Jay-Z Announces Two-Day Music Festival in Philly (VIDEO)
Yesterday, Jay-Z announced that he’ll be curating and headlining a two-day music festival in Philadelphia. The ‘Budweiser Made in America’ festival will take place in Philly’s Fairmount Park over Labor Day weekend and will feature three stages and nearly 30 acts. Musical styles will range from rap, to rock, to Latin, to dance, and will “embody the American spirit.”
“I’ve always believed in great music,” said the rapper. “I don’t believe in the lines that separate music. … That’s for people that can’t easily define what they’re hearing, so they have to put it in some sort of box. Me, I listen to anything I like.”
The rapper has not yet announced who else will be performing at the festival, though he has stated that 70 percent of the acts have already been confirmed. The lineup is set to be announced on May 21st, so stay tuned to find out who will be rockin’ out in Philly this Labor Day weekend!
“You’ll get to come out and have two great days, listen to some amazing music (and) discover some new bands,” Jay-Z said in an interview after the announcement.
Tickets go on sale through Ticketmaster and Livenation May 23rd. Part of the proceeds from the festival will benefit the United Way Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
