Billy Bob Thornton ‘Too Insecure’ to Stay Married to Angelina Jolie
I know what we were all thinking when news of Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie‘s relationship became public… Huh? It conjured up an image of a dirty uncle hitting on his younger, hotter niece. I don’t know–that’s the way I saw it. And this was the same mindset for Billy Bob. Well, not too the tee, people. But close enough.
Billy Bob claims that he felt “too insecure” to stay married to the A-lister. I mean, at the time the pairing kinda made sense: Angie was kissing her brother during awards shows, and saying how “in love” she was with him, leading to some uber gross rumors. Let’s just move past that one… Also, did we forget how she worn a vial of Billy Bob’s blood. Odd. Really, really odd. Oh, and the “Billy Bob” tattoo, hmm…
Since then, she has cleaned up her act, marrying fellow genetically blessed Brad Pitt and opening up their home to a busload of adopted and biologically children. Maybe it was for the best that Billy Bob and Angie’s marriage ended after three years. It would be difficult to be with someone who was admittedly insecure. “I blew it because I didn’t think I was good enough for her,” confesses Billy Bob during ABC’s Nightline. “She has one way she wanted to live her life and I had another way to live mine and I was just too insecure.”
The Sling Blade director also admits to feeling under appreciated once Angie’s star began to rise. He felt like the “Phantom of the Opera hiding in the catacombs.” It also didn’t help that people told him that “he didn’t deserve to be with her.”
Alas, their blood-vial-wearing, overally sexualized marriage ended (the two once admitted on the red carpet that they had just been bumping uglies in the limo–too much information!). Ah well, Angie and Brad are much easier on the eyes, and sorry Billy Bob–hindsight is 20/20, my friend.
