Rohan Marley — Lauryn Hill’s Ex — Proposes to Isabeli Fontana (VIDEO)
Rohan Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley, has finally decided to settle down. After a seven-month courtship with Brazilian model Isabeli Fontana, the two are going to make it official.
We wonder how Lauryn Hill is taking the news. For years, it was unclear if Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley were married or not. Lauryn often called Rohan her “husband” and the two have been together for 16 years with five kids to show for it. Lauryn’s acclaimed album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill featured the song To Zion–a song about their first son.
It’s rumored that Rohan has never officially divorced his first wife with whom he has two children. Well, he better get on that if he’s to wed his new fiancée. Fontana, 28, has been divorced twice and has a son from each of her previous marriages.
Marley and Fontana made headlines last year when it was reported that he left Hill for Fontana while Hill was pregnant with another man’s child. “Contrary to the numerous reports, Mr. Marley did not abandon me while pregnant with his child. We have had long periods of separation over the years but our five children together remain a joy to both of us,” says Hill. So is the sixth child his or not? Honestly, we don’t know.
The former football player and his fiancée plan to wed in Ethiopia to celebrate where the Rastafarian movement was founded. “Rohan told me we have to return to the roots so the marriage will last forever,” says Isabeli. Maybe the two should have explored this option earlier…
When asked to comment on the whirlwind engagement between her daughter and Marley, Isabeli’s mother had this to say: “I think everything is happening too fast, but everything has a different rhythm with Isabeli.”
If their engagement is any indication, the couple should be married by yesterday. As a huge fan of Lauryn Hill, I admittedly have a bias. I mean, they’re all adults, but I can’t help but we pissed off for Lauryn Hill. 16 years, 5-6 kids together, no official relationship status. Then bam! Engaged after seven months?!
