Madonna Slams Lady Gaga During Tour Rehearsals
Ever think that Lady Gaga’s “Born this Way” sounds a lot like Madonna’s 1989 hit “Express Yourself? Apparently, Madonna does too. According to ABC News, Madonna sang a mash-up of “Express Yourself” and “Born this Way” while rehearsing for her upcoming tour in Tel Aviv. (Click here to see the video of the rehearsal).
Perhaps Madonna isn’t trying to diss Lady Gaga – but the next song she launched into was called “She’s Not Me.” How could Madonna NOT be making a statement, trying to prove that the songs are similar? If you had never heard the songs before, you might not even realize that Madonna was singing two different songs. Plus, Madonna has come out and said that “Born this Way” “feels reductive.”
I don’t think Madonna really needs our sympathy – but Lady Gaga definitely does cross the border from being influenced by Madonna to copying her. I hope Madonna also includes a mash-up of “Alejandro” and “La Isla Bonita” on her tour!
