Miss USA Contestants, Donald Trump Get in on the ‘Call Me Maybe’ Lip Dub Trend (VIDEOS)
Carly Rae Jepsen has created a monster – a catchy, danceable, upbeat monster. It’s called ‘Call Me Maybe’.
This earworm of a pop song is gaining incredible popularity, probably because once you hear it, you can never get it out of your head ever again. It doesn’t matter whether you’re an art rock aficionado, a metalhead, or a person who exclusively listens to whale songs (sorry; I don’t think there’s a classification for you guys yet) – once this song’s catchy pop melody hits your ears, you’ll be hooked.
You’ll sing it in the shower; you’ll hum it on the subway; you’ll break into dance when it comes on the radio at the doctor’s office… and no one will blame you.
Fans of the song have even gone so far as to take to the Internet, uploading videos of themselves covering, dancing to, and lip dubbing the song. Celebrities, such as Katy Perry, James Franco, and even Joan Rivers, have joined in as well, releasing their own lip dubs to fans’ delight.
Even the Miss USA pageant contestants (and Donald Trump) got in on the fun, releasing their lip dub on Youtube today. Check it out below!
Bonus: Watch the Supercut by Popdust below. It’s a mashup of 75 lip dubs, covers, and dance routines, and features clips of Katy Perry, James Franco, Justin Bieber, the Harvard baseball team, an adorable toddler, and plenty of regular folks.
The description says it all:
“If you thought the song was intoxicating before, just wait till you see it performed on accordion[sic], lip synched by three shirtless dudes in a river, and danced to by an overzealous girl alone in a closed Burger King. You will see these people and hear this song when you close your eyes at night, and again as you wake up in the morning.”
