Rihanna is Confused About the Backlash from Her Chris Brown Collab…
It seems that Rihanna is bewildered by the backlash from her Birthday Cake collab with ex Chris Brown.
Let’s file this under “really?” It may come as a shock to RiRi that people turn their noses up at women-beaters. She tells Esquire UK that the backlash caught her “off-guard.”
“It never occurred to me how this was going to be a problem,” says Rihanna. “I thought people were gonna be surprised that we finally did a record together, but I didn’t see how people could think it was a bad thing, you know? In my mind, it was just music . . . I could never see anything wrong with making music.”
She also doesn’t see anything wrong with making a joint with the guy who beat the crap out of her. Sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the pair have been secretly hooking up. “Rihanna loves to live dangerously, and talking to and hooking up with Chris is all part of that,” says a source. I’m all about living life to the fullest, but I didn’t know that included sleeping with the guy that did this to your face.
Rihanna’s music has never claimed to be subtle, and some believe that her overtly sexual lyrics point to the two hooking up again, romantically.
“There’s a lot of sh– y’all can’t get over. Y’all holding your breath on a lot of stuff that doesn’t matter,” sneers the singer. “When you realize who you live for, and who’s important to please, a lot of people will actually start living. I am never going to get caught up in that. I’m gonna look back on my life and say that I enjoyed it — and I lived it for me.”
