Mr. Rogers Remix Will Have You McFeeling Nostalgic (VIDEO)

Mr. Rogers has gotten the autotune treatment, and the result is a mega-dose of magical, heartstring-tugging nostalgia that might just put some mist in your eyes.

The viral video, which currently has nearly 650,000 hits on YouTube, features clips the beloved TV host from his long-running show, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.

“You can grow ideas in the garden of your mind,” sings Mr. Rogers, summarizing one of the show’s key messages about the importance of curiosity.

The really neat thing about this video is that it isn’t a fan-based initiative – it was actually created by PBS and video mashup artist John D. Boswell in order to pay tribute to Mr. Rogers and introduce his legacy to a new generation.

“[Boswell] is a huge ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’ fan, and was thrilled at the chance to pay tribute to one of our heroes,” says the description on the YouTube video. “Both PBS and the Fred Rogers Company hope you like John’s celebration of Fred Rogers’ message.”

Mr. Rogers died of stomach cancer in 2003. Those of us who grew up watching his show still miss him, and I, for one, hope that this video will bring his message to a new generation.
